He was predeceased by: his father John Johnston (Junior); and his brothers, John Johnston (Jack) and Robert Johnston (Bob). He is survived by: his brother Gary Johnston (Joyce) of Decatur, IL; his sons, Michael Johnston (Peggy) of Quincy, IL, Brent Johnston (Angie) of Decatur, IL, Christopher and Tubby Johnston (Tiffany) of Naples, FL; and his granddaughters, Mackenzie, Holly, Mallory and Kennedy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warrensburg-Latham High School FFA Program.
