He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Beryl Hackney of Decatur, John Boyer of Decatur and Linda Sue Tague of Decatur. He is survived by: his parents, Richard Dean Hackney of Decatur and Pamela Kay Tappendorf (Boyer) of Decatur; his wife Andrea Marie Blackburn; his daughter Kierstin; his parents-in-law, Byron "Woody" Blackburn of Lake Linden, MI and Muriel Howe of Mt. Zion, IL; his sister Michell Hackney of Decatur; and his half-siblings, Brian Rice and Brianna Rice.
