With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Matthew Umphryes of Decatur, Illinois, born in Rushville, Illinois, who passed away on February 10, 2023 at the age of 56. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Edgar Burton; and his siblings, Harlan Umphreys and Lynn Umphryes. He is survived by: his mother Zelma Kaye Moore Umphryes of Mt. Sterling; his siblings, Vern Umphryes of Rushville and Carolyn DeJaynes of Summer Hill; and his aunt Lena Lambert of Beardstown. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
