He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Closs and Esther Closs (Arthalony); his wife Annettia Metzger; and his siblings-in-law, Sandra Closs, Bill Monson and Rich Tierney.
He is survived by: his children, Ryan Maurer of Decatur, Gregory Closs (Kourtney) of Mt. Zion, Jonathon Closs (Amanda) of Niantic and Jennifer Durflinger (Jon) of Decatur; and his siblings, Richard Closs, Melba Monson and Barbara Tierney. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
