He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Spates and Josie Lee Spates (Monger); and his brothers, Robert Spates and Wayne Hurn. He is survived by: his siblings, Jennie Turner of Decatur and David Hurn of Bloomington; and his nieces and nephews, Tara Spates-Johnson of Georgia, Marjorie Pichon of Virginia, Bruce Turner of Decatur, Eric Turner Paul Spates of Decatur, Anthony Spates of Decatur, Vincent Turner of Springfield and Kenneth Turner. He is also survived by great nieces, great nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
