He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Karl and Helen Karl (Buchanan); his son Jimmie Reeves, Jr.; and his siblings, Ralph Karl and Mary Flitz.

He is survived by: his wife Ginny Karl; his children, Joey Karl of Decatur, Lydia Witsman (Nathan) of Charleston, Hope Trimmer (Ron) of Decatur and Shelby Karl of Decatur; his grandchildren, Ellie, Noah, Harlen, Ronald, Sean, Leah and J. J.; and his siblings, Ray Karl of Decatur and Nola Hall (Murrell) of Decatur.
