He is survived by: his wife Ora Lee Jelks; his daughter Jacquelyn Wright (Terry) of Fort Worth, TX; his grandchildren, Kyle, Kameron and Kaci Wright of Fort Worth, TX; his brother Thurman Jelks of Decatur, IL; his siblings-in-law, Melvin Anderson of Atlanta, GA, Jesse Hayes (Fran) of Springfield, IL, Larry Hayes (Mamie) of Decatur, IL, Toni Rawls of Decatur, IL, Ethel Rawls of Decatur, IL, Dorothy Bates (Charles) of Decatur, IL, Debra Jelks of Indianapolis, IN and Shirley Montgomery (Richard) of Gardena, CA; his aunt Overseer Lettie Allen; and his godson Billy Bob Nash. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ (759 S Jackson St, Decatur, IL 62521). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
