It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janet Naylor Couter (Decatur, Illinois), born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on December 8, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Naylor and Katherine Kerr Naylor; her husband Dr. William T. Couter; her brother John Naylor; her nephew James Naylor; and her stepgrandson Joshua Oldweiler.

She is survived by: her children, John Couter (Beth) of Decatur, Illinois, Catherine Zito (Tom) of Franklin Park, Illinois, Nancy Dollison (Daniel) of Springfield, Illinois and Robert Couter (Cheri) of Chattanooga, Tennessee.; her grandchildren, Janet Zito of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Michael Zito of Tigard, Oregon, William Couter (Catherine) of Lake Charles, Louisianna, John Couter (Destiny) of Chattanooga, Tennessee and David Couter of New York City; her stepgrandson Chad Oldweiler (Suzanne) of Atlanta, Georgia; and her nephew John Naylor of Hawaii. She is also survived by three great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Inn, St. Teresa High School, and Holy Family Catholic Church.
