We are sad to announce that on January 22, 2020, at the age of 69, James Ross Nelson (Decatur, Illinois), born in Pleasant Plains, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James F. Nelson and Mary Nelson (Tribble). He is survived by: his wife Vickie Haws Kinney; his children, Michael Shawn (Tara) of Forsyth, Thomas Chad (Denise) of Naples, FL. and Stacey Dian Bracken (Shane) of Forsyth; his stepchildren, Stacey Huffman (Jimmy) of Decatur and Michael Kinney (Lizeth) of Forsyth; his sister Sharon Butler (Rodney) of Decatur; his grandchildren, Rachel, Jaxson Nelson, Jacob Huffman, Ella, Cole Nelson, Gabriel, Danica, Joseph Kinney, Reid and Owen Bracken; his mother-in-law Marilyn Haws; his sister-in-law Terri Deetz; and his close friend Tom Estell.

Memorials may be made to Macon County Animal Shelter.

“Vickie and I are deeply saddened by the news of Ross' passing. It caught us completely off-guard because we are all of the age where we are in and out of emergency rooms, the hospital and medical treatment for all the ills that accompany aging and those ailments that don't last as long or strike younger folks as hard. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Vickie, and the entire family for this loss. Once again, we are reminded that we know not the day nor the hour, and the reminder hurts terribly.”
