He was predeceased by: his parents, James David Holmes and Bernice H. Holmes; and his siblings, Sharon Holmes, Ken Holmes and Gerald Holmes.
He is survived by: his children, James K. Holmes (Paco) of Deland, FL, Shawn L. Nix (Michelle) of Chatham, IL, Monica R. Jones (Travis) of Decatur, IL and Stacy I. Wasilewski of Springfield, IL; and his sister Janice Campbell of Springfield, IL. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Zion Baptist Church (1601 E Laurel St, Springfield, IL 62703). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
