She was predeceased by: her parents, James Irvin and Marie E. Jessup (Adams); her husband Allen Colter; her daughter Deborah Jones; and her great grandchild Alexandria Irene McGee.

She is survived by: her children, Marion Snyder, Willatina Alford, Brenda Bethel, Janet Snyder and Trease Reeves; and her sister Bessie Abbate. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
