We are sad to announce that on October 11, 2024, at the age of 79, Darrell Sowers of Decatur, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Thural Sowers and Nellie Sowers (Camp); his daughters, Melissa Larrison (John) of Mt. Zion, Melanie Martin (Matthew) of O'Fallon, IL and Miranda Sowers of Mt. Zion; his grandchildren, Grace Larrison and Elliot Martin; his stepgrandchildren, Joshua Larrison (Taylor) and Alisha McKenzie (Corey); his stepgreat-grandchildren, River Larrison and Brooks McKenzie; his siblings, Robert Sowers, Wayne Sowers (Rosemary), Gene Sowers (Rosie), Gary Sowers, Virginia Foster and Carol Shafer (Jim); his sisters-in-law, Loretta Sowers and Nancy Sowers; his wife Linda Lee Davidson; his brothers, Marvin, Ross and Rex; and his close friends, Marvin "Butch" Davis and Stanley Sowa. He was also cherished by many nephews, nieces, and friends.

Memorials may be made in Darrell's memory to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County.

“My heart goes out to all of you. Darrell was faithful. To God, to his family and to his friends. I have so many memories. From the time Butch and I got married, Darrell and him called each other on their birthday, only missing one time. They would talk a couple of hours. After Butch died I knew how much Darrell would miss that call, so I called him. Darrell appreciated my call so much that he said it brought tears. He was a faithful friend, always. RIP, my friend, I will miss you.”
