He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Powell and Mable E. Powell (Macklin); his brothers, Leon and Howard; and his grandchildren, Tanisha Schaal and Carlos Dozier II.
He is survived by: his children, Jason Carson (Siobhan), Sherrell Spates, Terrence Dozier (Jontue), Carlos Dozier (Dee) and Charles Scott; and his siblings, Betty, Al Joseph, Pat, Linda (Tootie), Eugene (Wankey), Jerome, Lloyd (Bam), Shawn and Debra. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
