He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin M. Rice and Alma Rice (Lamb); and his siblings, Gerald, Glenn, Donnie, Gary, Sharon and Bertha.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Hackney (Andrea) of Swansboro, NC, Michell Hackney of Decatur, Brian Rice (Tabitha) of St. Robert, MO and Brianna Rice of Springfield; his grandchildren, Kierstin, Danica, Brian Jr., Aubriella, Samuel, Elijah Barry and Brandon; and his siblings, Malinda Lewis of Virden, Joy Shinn (Randy) of Findlay and Terry Rice (Judy) of Orange City, FL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
