He was predeceased by: his parents, Jalmer Kauppinen and Lyla Kauppinen (Jensen); his brothers, Gene and Richard Kauppinen; and his siblings-in-law, Rodney Lundquist, Dianne Kauppinen and Ursula Kauppinen.
He is survived by: his wife Connie (Cassady); his children, Lori Ann Odior (Godwin) and Matthew Kauppinen; his grandchildren, Oshobi J., Oshiah G. Odior, Jailyn A. and Asher D. Kauppinen; his siblings, LaRae Lundquist, Carol Fischer (Kirk), Ron (Beverly) and Roger Kauppinen; and his siblings-in-law, Vicki Foster (Gary), Pattie Cesarek (Frank), Cee Ruszkowski (Bronek) and Edwin Cassady Jr. (Marilyn). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
