She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin Kovanic and Margaret Kovanic (Baleikas); and her sister Marilyn Kovanic. She is survived by: her sons, Gary Gernand (Janet) of Alvin, IL and Robert "Bob" Gernand (Diana) of Danville, IL; and her grandchildren, Jenna Gernand (Garrett Carter) of Ferndale, WA, Mark Gernand (Natalie Malinowski) of Alvin, IL, Callie Gernand of Danville, IL and Joshua Gernand of Danville, IL..
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center (3940 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61834). A celebration of life was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Phyllis' memory to Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville, IL.
