He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley Pate and Lucille Pate; his spouse Jean H. Smoot; and his stepfather Fredrick Taylor. He is survived by: his children, Vincent Eugene Pate (Lisa) of Kingman, IN and Lorie Ann Pate (Ronnie Hoshauer) of Fithian; his grandchildren, Chelsey Anna Hoshauer (Darren Lamm), Bethany Leagha Rattenni (Collin) of Largo, FL, Jilleann Grace Pate and Cale William Vincent Pate; his siblings, John Pate of Rossville, IL and Lois Dolezal (Pete) of Ringgold, GA; his great grandchild Terron Lamm; and his close friends, Mike Carpenter, Brian Hepler, Jake Cooley, Arnold Cravens, Jeff Reasor and Steve Reasor.
