He was predeceased by: his father Albert "Bert"; his siblings, Alfred Toennies, Ange Wobbe, Melvin (Alice Toennies) and Darlene (Rich Toennies); his sister-in-law Betty Santel of Damiansville; his father-in-law Emil; and his brothers-in-law, Pat Toennies (Delores "Dot"), Chuck Goestenkors, Louis Wobbe, Tom Toennies (Marilyn), Ed Fiedler, Lavergne (Julie Breiner) and Frank Santel.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Breiner of Damian's Catholic Church; his children, Brian Toennies (Mona) of O'Fallon, IL, Wayne Toennies (Angie) of Bartelso, Carol Winkeler (Ryan) of Germantown and Lori McMinn (Lonnie) of O'Fallon, IL; his grandsons, Eric (Ashlyn), Zachary and Jack Toennies; his children, Alex (Kristen), Nick, Katie, Noah Toennies, Brett, Justin Winkeler, Alyssa, Briana and Kiley McMinn; and his great grandchild Nora Toennies. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
