He was predeceased by: his parents, James Symmonds and Minnie Symmonds (Courtois); his daughters, Beverly Walker and Kathleen Bousman; his grandchildren, Eric Schaefer and Ashley Walker; his great grandchild Kendra McAllister; and his son-in-law Frank Walker.
He is survived by: his wife Katherine Markey; his children, Diana Shaw (Byron) of Dallas City, Rita Schaefer (Tom) of Dallas City, Teresa Pieper (John) of Dallas City, Nancy Gavin (Mike) of Salem and Ed Symmonds (Kathy) of Swisher, Iowa; and his grandchildren, Jeni Richardson, Heather Carter, Angie Bauer, Chris Thompson, Tiffaney Prickett, Aaron, Amy Walker, John, David, Matt Gavin, Andy Schaefer, Alicia Glueck, April Hamma, Leslie Vermillion, Laura Phillips, Dan and Dylan Pieper. He is also survived by 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
