He was predeceased by: his parents, Bobby Gates and Vera Gates (Medley); and his sister Lisa King. He is survived by: his wife Debra Gates (Mathis) of Cypress, Illinois; his daughter Mandy Moore (Doug) of Belknap, Illinois; his brothers, Steve Gates of Paducah and David Gates of Paducah; his grandchildren, Hope Hutchison, Lily Moore and Trace Moore; and his great grandchild Colton Wynn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
