He was predeceased by: his spouse Jean K. Buiter; his son Albert Wayne Buiter; his siblings, Everett, Bertha DeVries (late Wally), Bill Buiter (late Joan), Jeanne Buiter, Jean Terpstra (late Chuck), Pete Kamp (Annette), Bill Kamp (late Doris), John Kamp (late Bonnie) and Sid; his siblings-in-law, Henry Zandstra (late Joanne), Mary Beth Zandstra and James Zandstra; and his parents-in-law, Hank and Hilda Zandstra.

He is survived by: his daughters, Cheryl Dotson (Dave) and Karen Huizenga (Dale); his grandchildren, Joshua Dotson (Bonnie), Jori Staal (Michael) and Jim Dotson; his great grandchildren, Landon, Lana, Jordan, Jonah, Jade, Austin and Dean; his siblings, Sadie, John Buiter (late Thea), Anne Vis (late Allan), Claire VanBaren (late Gise), Neal (late Cheri), Jim Buiter (Janet), Rich Buiter (Mary), Marie Fischer (late John), Hank Kamp (Grace), Len Kamp (Joanne), Doris Doorn (Henry) and Barb; and his sisters-in-law, Barb Hunter (Skip), Sharon Van Baren (Art) and Cindy Dees (Steve).

Memorial contributions may be given to the Protestant Reformed Christian School Association or Crown Point Christian School.
