He was predeceased by: his wife Marlene Thometz; his parents, John R. Thometz and Louise Thometz; and his siblings, John (late Anne), Richard (Laura), Charles (Sue) and Ruth Jung (late Edmund). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
