He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Velenzuela and Sophie Velenzuela (Merchut); and his son Jimmie John Velenzuela. He is survived by: his sister Geri; his nephews, Robert and Richard; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lucas Tesina, Michelle Tesina, Charmaine Tesina, Danielle Gresham, Nicole Pokrzyna, Brianna Tesina and Brandon Tesina.
