It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phyllis J. Powell of Crest Hill, Illinois, born in Joliet, Illinois, who passed away on August 30, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Joe Wray Powell; and her parents, Lavena Marquardt-Gotschika and William G. Marquardt. She is survived by: her children, Joe Wray Powell Jr. (Renée) of Chapel Hill, N. C. and Launda Rae Powell of Crest Hill; her grandchildren, Juliana R. and Michael J. Powell; and her sister Marlene Rinehart (late Art) of Springfield, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, it was one of Phyllis's final requests that any monetary donations be sent in her memory to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 410 N. Broadway Street, Joliet.
