He was predeceased by: his parents, Venanzio Petrella and Concetta Petrella; his wife Phyllis Petrella; and his siblings, Adeline Capitti, Guido Petrella (Helen), Sam Petrella (Rosemary) and Frank Petrella.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Petrella (Debi), Bradley Petrella (Mary), Diane Habas (Paul) and Margaret Lorenz (Mark); his grandchildren, Laurica Zitko (Chris), Matthew Habas, Philip Petrella (Libby), Elyse Lorenz-Dodge (Matt) and Kristin Petrella; his great grandchildren, Antolina, Cristiana Zitko and Tripp Petrella; his brother Albert Petrella (late Bernice); and his sister-in-law Evelean Petrella. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
