He was predeceased by: his mother Viola Imojean Nelson (Mabry); and his brother Boyd Nelson. He is survived by: his father James Alfred; his siblings, Gary Nelson, Bob Nelson and Brenda Lietzow; his sons, James E. Nelson and Jason W. Nelson; and his grandchildren, Jessica, Casey, Seth and Jonathan.
