It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jo Lindsay of Columbia, Illinois, born in East Saint Louis, Illinois, who passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Walter; and her parents, Charles (Ivy) and McCarthy. She is survived by: her children, Lisa Marie Porter (Jim) of O'Fallon and Brian Lindsay (Mary Ann) of Madison, Ala.; her grandchildren, Katherine Melzer (Christopher), Christopher Porter, Nathan Lindsay (Rebecca), Katie Gargis (Jeremy) and Clay Lindsay (Kaylie); her great grandchildren, Caroline, Margaret Lindsay, Penelope, Amelia, Bentley Gargis and Jay Lindsay; her brother Jerry McCarthy (Joyce); and her siblings-in-law, Donald Lindsay and Sherran Battas (Richard). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Catholic Urban Programs.
