He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Merrill and Adia "Irene" DeVore Merrill; his wife Barbara Draper; and his brothers, James, Joseph and Norman.
He is survived by: his children, Christopher Merrill (Sharon), Mechelle "Missy" Larson (John), Jody Lindstrom (Thad) and Robert "Bobby" Merrill (Kelly); his grandchildren, Terry Larson, Jonathon Larson, Sommer Larson, Devan Markin, Tiera White, Kristina McCool, Kalista Merrill, Spencer Lindstrom, Dawson Merrill and Alyse Merrill; his great grandchildren, Elijah Ford, Chloe Wheat, Christopher Zane White, Airabella White and Harlie Halderman; his siblings, Jack Merrill (Barbara) and Joan Kinkead (Jerry); his sister-in-law Lois Merrill; and his close friend Lynda Smith.
Due to COVID restrictions, social distancing guidelines and capacity limits will be followed in the funeral home. Graveside services will be private at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
