She was predeceased by: her parents, George Schmitt and Francis Barth Schmitt; her spouse Dennie F. Howell; and her granddaughter Lindsay. She is survived by: her children, Rita Aguilar, Mitch Howell (Edna), Vina Heinzeroth (Keith Sr.), Jill Christopher (Ross) and Gina Howell; her adoptive son Tim Fitzwater; and her siblings, Daniel Schmitt (Martha), Mark Schmitt (Liz), Maggie Apple, Judy Heston and Mary Swan. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or to mass.
