He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Allan, Mae Claus, George and Emily Fortney; his wife Elizabeth Barfield; and his nephew John G. Claus, Jr. (Robert).

He is survived by: his parents, Janet Claus and Bob Claus; his children, Robert Claus, III and Katie Portell (Chris); his siblings, Lori of Carvalho and John Glenn Claus (Sang Hwa); his friend Marlene De Chiara; his niece Kimberly Zimmer (Nick); and his nephew Christophe of Carvalho.
