He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Hilmes and Christine Hilmes (Schleper); and his siblings, Al Hilmes, MaryAnn Brown (Dennis) and Irene Hilmes.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Byron Hilmes, Shannon Hilmes, Marlon Hilmes (Christa), Brandon Marshall Hilmes (Debora) and Sharon Ramsey (Steve); his brothers, Ralph Hilmes and Arnold; and his sister-in-law Gloria Johnson. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and a community of friends.
