He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Shinn and Viola Shinn (Traub); his daughter Kerin Ponder (Shinn); and his siblings, Maurice Shinn, Charles Shinn, Bonnie Mayberry, Shelby Shinn and Carl Shinn.

He is survived by: his wife Rosalie Garrett; his son Kevin Shinn (Julie) of Collinsville, IL; his grandchildren, Amy Goldberg (Adam) of Studio City, CA, LeeAnn Husted (Chris) of O'Fallon, MO, Daniel Shinn (Kristen) of Glen Carbon, IL, Cory Ponder of O'Fallon, IL and Katie Farris of Collinsville, IL; and his great grandchildren, Simone, Landon, Caden, Layne and Evelyn Rose. He is also survived by his family, hugging his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
