He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland E. "Smitty" Smith and Gloria "Gayle" Smith; his sister Susan Smith; and his brother-in-law Troy Crites. He is survived by: his daughter Lauryn M. Barr of Troy, IL; his granddaughter Aubrey; and his siblings, Georgia Crites of Fenton, MO, Gloria Fayollat (Tom) of Glen Carbon, IL, Cindy Fortenberry (Mack) of Zephryr, TX, Eddie Smith (Sherri) of Belleville, IL, Jimmy Smith (Lisa) of Highland, IL and June Zavaglia (Mike) of Edwardsville, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Barry Wilson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Ltd. (2800 N Center St, Maryville, IL 62062). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
