It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vera E. McCreery of Coal Valley, Illinois, born in Avon, Illinois, who passed away on December 26, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Edward and Bertha Grace McNeely (Lashbrook); and her brothers, Charles Johnson and James McNeely. She is survived by: her children, Meredith "Mick" Mays, Jr. (Amy) of Orion and Allison Bartels (Steven) of Moline; her grandchildren, Noah Mays, Alexandria Mays, Dameon Powers, Kayla Hogan (Christian Sierra) and William Bartels; her great grandchild Mathew Sierra; her siblings, Ila Bunch, B. Maxine Stanford (Robert), Diana Sears (Steve) and Franklin Johnson (Tina Hopkins); and her pet Lucy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
