He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Schjelderup and Eleanor Schjelderup (Boucher); his stepsons, Richard Sieren and Timothy Rives; his stepgrandson Mitchell Rives; and his sister Lois Larson.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Sample Lighter; his stepdaughters, Denise Vanscoy (Brett) of Coal Valley and Mary Ann Harris of Texas; and his siblings, Gerald Schjelderup (Linda) of Moorhead, Darlene Dimke of Fergus Falls, Carol Ashley of Ocean Springs and Sharon Schjelderup of Mounds View. He is also survived by seven step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Davenport, where he was a member, American Cancer Society, or a favorite charity.
