He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Sr. McAtee and Dorothy McAtee (Chard); his wife Donna Mae McAtee; his son Stephen; his daughter-in-law Hope McAtee of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and his grandson Alexander McAtee.

Memorials may be made to Illowa Council, Boy Scouts of America.
