He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph A. and Mary R. Kuhn (Rugh); his wife Marion L. Terpening; and his brother Mark. He is survived by: his stepdaughter Deanne Engelbrecht; his grandson Josh Engelbrecht (Krystal); his siblings-in-law, Janet Drummond (Pete), Marjorie Gray, Ed Terpening, Roger Terpening (Darcey) and Jerry Terpening (Kathy) of Abbeville, LA; and his aunt Jackie Shattuck. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, where David was a member.
