He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Spurling and Mary Spurling (Milligan); his wife Barbara Byrne; his siblings, Richard Milligan, Terry Spurling, Larry Spurling, Shirley and Rosemary Spurling; and his son Allan Woodard.

He is survived by: his children, Sheila Long (Marvin) of Clinton, Richard Spurling of Clinton, Amber Spurling of Clinton, Allora Sneed (Keiron) of Clinton and Chris Spurling (Claire) of Gilbert, AZ. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
