He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Carstens and Miriam Carstens (Aden); and his brother Leroy H. Carstens (Mary). He is survived by: his wife Esther Schlueter; his children, Jane Roberts of Camp Point and Kendall Carstens (Sheila) of Clayton; his grandchildren, Nicole Rogers (Mike), Renee Huston (Kyle), Jaesyn Luna (Saralyn), Michael Carstens and Heather Trombley; and his great grandchildren, Jack, Ava, Brendan, Harrison Rogers, Aubrey, Harper, Sydney, Blake Huston, Alex, Jacob, Katie Leenerts, Averick, Adeline Carstens, Asher Wellman and Jeremiah Gordon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peters Lutheran Church of Lost Prairie or the charity of one's choice.
