With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Smith of Clay City, Illinois, born in Mount Erie, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 28, 2024 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Fry and Katie Fry (Howe); her husband William "Bill" Roscoe Smith of Xenia; her daughter Mona Ellen Smith; her siblings, Mabel Fry, Ruby "Jean" Murray-Carlyle, Joyce "Sue" Winters, Thomas Fry, Herschel Fry, Roy Fry, Andrew "Dale" Fry and James Fry; and her great grandchild Micah Heflin.
She is survived by: her children, John "Bill" William Smith of Olney, Paul Smith (Linda) of Mattoon, Mark Smith (Kimberley) of Flora, Mabel "Kay" Smith of Olney, Patricia Gerth (Bob) of Normal and Holly Cunningham (Chris) of Sherman; her brother-in-law Mike Smith (Connie); and her grandchildren, Kim Eyer (Steve), Stacey Dunlap (Sean), Chrissy Phillips (Roger), Lauren Hill (Scott), Regan Smith (Austin Larson), Ray Gerth (Jennifer), Robert Gerth, Brad Gerth (Sarah), Erin Thacker, Cori Fryman (Jay), Jordan Smith (Morgan), Alexis Kauk (Caleb), Joseph Smith, Abram Smith, Connor Cunningham and Colliin Cunningham. She is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations are suggested to either Beyond the Walls, Flora First Methodist Church Blessing Bag Program, or Residential Hospice, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
