Rose M. Fico Obituary
Rose Fico, of Cicero, died on Friday surrounded by her grandchildren. Rose is the beloved wife of the late Anthony R., dear mother of Maria Polston (Robert) and the late Anthony J., fond sister of Concetta Scicchitano, the late Larry (Carmella), the late Vincent (Belle) and the late Angelo (Mary); loving grandmother of Michael Cooper, Robert Polston (Jennifer) and Laura Maressa; great-grandmother of seven; aunt and great-aunt of many. Upon her family moving from Italy in the 1920s, Rose was the first of her siblings to be born in the United States.
Having graduated from Lucy Flower High School, she was an entrepreneurial woman for her time, working diligently for the Central Crain Company for over 40 years. She was also a skilled seamstress. Having grown up in a traditional Italian neighborhood of Taylor/Bell in Chicago, she and her husband ventured out to a new life in Cicero during the 1960s, where she resided ever since.
Rose was a devout Catholic who was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Mount parish in Cicero. She enjoyed an active life and loved to be with her friends and family at gatherings for church, school, and family, especially events that featured her homemade stuffed shells and knot cookies. Resting at Sourek Funeral Home, 5645 W. 35th Street, Cicero, IL 60804, Friday 3 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Saturday 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Church, Entombment at Mary Queen of Heaven Cemetery where she will be forever joined with the love of her life, her husband Tony.
