It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Raymond Leland Flannigan of Christopher, Illinois, who passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Flannigan and Margaret Haynes Mitchell of Christopher, IL.; his wife Linda Swisher of Mulkeytown, IL; his sons, David Flannigan and Mark Flannigan; his foster parents, Bill Mitchell and Margaret Mitchell; his siblings, Harry, John Flannigan, Hazel Mazurek and Nora Mae Mason; his parents-in-law, Emmett "Dobber" and Verble Swisher; and his siblings-in-law, Charles "Dobber" Swisher, Bob Swisher, Norman Tilley and Evelyn Pinkham Swisher.
He is survived by: his son Tracy Flannigan of Thibodeaux; his granddaughter Shana Hall; his great grandchildren, Dixie Hall and Avanna Hall of White Bluff; his sisters-in-law, Judy Swisher of Mulkeytown, IL, Janice Tilley of DuQuoin, IL and Debbie Stanley (Jerry) of Mulkeytown, IL.; and his nephew Donald Mason of Elkview.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home (209 N Emma St, Christopher, IL 62822). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, it was Raymond's express wishes that any memorials be made to Veteran's Honor Flight of Southern Illinois, 10400 Terminal Drive, Suite 200, Marion, IL 62959.
