He was predeceased by: his parents, Brent Ambrose and Winona D. Bennett (Ashmore); his wife Phyllis Ann Heggerty; his son John Thomas Bennett; and his siblings, John A Bennett, James Earl Bennett and Rebecca Dorcas.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sheryl Ann Bennett of Chrisman and Trudy Wynn Smidler (Frank) of Stoughton, Wisconsin; his sister Dorothy Townsend of Shelbyville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kylee Gregory (Adam) of Oak Creek, Drew Smidler (Jessica) of Zionsville, Chelsy Jankus (Ian) of Centreville and Derek Smidler of Clearfield, Utah; and his great grandchildren, Sammy Smidler and Harper Jankus. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Chrisman Christian Church; Kansas American Legion Post 539, or Paris American Legion Post 211.
