It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Geraldine Evelyn Schmidt of Chillicothe, Illinois, born in Richmond, Virginia, who passed away on December 6, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin Luther Branch and Pearl Evelyn Branch (Gallop); her husband Donald Louis Schmidt; her sister Joyce Denslow (Denny); her son Ernest Schmidt; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Frick and Benjamin Herron.

She is survived by: her children, Donald Schmidt Jr., Christopher Schmidt (Toni) and Evelyn Herron Sr. (Steve); and her grandchildren, Christopher Schmidt Jr., Tobey Natzke (Erik), Elizabeth Evans (Josh), Louie Schmidt (Ashley), Kathryn Braun (Josh), Steven Herron II (Amanda), Kate Schmidt, Levi Herron (Juli) and Kevin Schmidt. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren (one on the way) and 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peoria Rescue Ministries or to Calvary Baptist Academy in Chillicothe.
