He was predeceased by: his parents, Delwin D. Bruns and Edythe L. Bruns (Schull); his siblings, Betty Anderson, Deanna Harper and John; his sister-in-law Karon Bruns; his daughter-in-law Stefanie Truelson; and his stepdaughter KariAnn McDonnell.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Neary; his children, Todd Bruns (Billy) of Charleston, IL, Troy Bruns (Melissa) of Eau Claire, WI, Traci Harris (Ben) of Laurel, MD, Scott Truelson of Chillicothe, IL and Matthew McDonnell of DeWitt, IA; his grandchildren, Jordan Truelson (Cecelia), Shaela Truelson, Tyler Bruns and Sophia Bruns; his great grandchildren, Quinn and Harper Truelson; and his brothers, Delwin Bruns, Jr. (Jeri) of East Peoria, IL, Robert Bruns (Julia) of Iowa City, IA and Daniel Bruns of Charleston, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ernest's name may be made to the American Red Cross.
