He was predeceased by: his parents, Burke Sledgister and Millie Taylor Sledgister; his brothers, Andrew Sledgister of Chillicothe, IL, Harry Sledgister (Arlene) of Sun City, AZ and Robert Sledgister (Donna) of Chillicothe, IL; his brother-in-law David Bliss (Betty) of Springfield, MO; his grandson Brian J. Sledgister of Pontiac, IL; his stepdaughter Suzanne Yahraus of Wilmington, DE; and his former wife Marilyn Bliss Sledgister.

He is survived by: his spouse Patricia A. Sledgister; his sons, David Sledgister of Alexandria, VA and Richard Sledgister (Melody) of Metamora, IL; his brother-in-law William G. Bliss of Washington, IL; his son-in-law Andrew Yahraus (Teresa) of Phoenix, AZ; and also, Darrell, Lynn J. Fisher (Lisa) of Gloucester Point, VA and Audrey Votto (David) of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Darrell E. Sledgister, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away on Saturday, July 21st surrounded by loved ones at Rock Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Surprise, AZ.
