He was predeceased by: his parents, William Tate and Edna "Tootsie" Tate (Lawson); and his daughter Marcia Lee "Missy" Carroll. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Sarver Rogers of Chillicothe; and his son Richard "Ric" Tate of Chillicothe.
