He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sister Laura Tobey; his father William R. Tobey; his former wife Beverly Nilson Tobey; his children, William H. Tobey (Elizabeth) and Ann Tobey Rowlands (Robert); his sister Suzanne Tobey Smart; and his stepsons, David S. Ruder II and John C. Ruder (Kate). He was also cherished by eight grandchildren.
