He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen M. Heeney and Joseph C. Heeney; and his parents-in-law, Nancy M. and Anthony J. Del Priore Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Denice; his sons, Michael and Matthew Heeney; and his brother Joseph Heeney (Judy).

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Christ the King Church (9235 S Hamilton Ave, Chicago, IL 60643). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM. A burial was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (6001 W 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803).

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Christ the King School Foundation, Christ the King St. Vincent De Paul Society, or St. Rita of Cascia H.S., c/o Office of Advancement, 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60620 for tuition assistance, are most appreciated.
