He was predeceased by: his parents, Janko Mikan and Ana; and his siblings, Ivka and Zvonko. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Jr., Anna (Ean) and Ivan (Lilian); his siblings, Katarina, Marko, Cvjetko, Nikola, Pepica and Slavica; and his grandchildren, Damian, Emilija, Matthew, Alena and Leo. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was very patriotic and made charitable donations to various United States Veterans organizations.
